An initial post-mortem into the death of Liam Payne has disclosed that the singer passed away from "multiple traumas" after a fall from a hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday.

Just before 10.30pm UK time, it was confirmed that Liam's body had been discovered on an internal patio at the Casa Sur hotel, mere minutes after concerned staff alerted emergency services about a male guest.

A statement from emergency services verified that another call was made at 5.04pm local time to report the discovery of a man's body at the hotel, with a team arriving on site at 5.11pm. Alberto Crescenti, head of the state emergency medical system, stated that Liam suffered injuries that were "incompatible with life" and, as a result, "there was no possibility of resuscitation."

After Liam's body was removed from the scene, a post-mortem was conducted by the Forensic Medical Corps at the Judicial Morgue in Buenos Aires, with the preliminary findings released on Thursday afternoon, revealing that Liam, aged 31, died from "multiple traumas" causing "internal and external bleeding," consistent with the 10 metre fall he endured.

The Mirror has reported that the Mobile Criminalistics Unit of the City Police in Buenos Aires gathered forensic evidence from a hotel room at Casa Sur. At the location, a bottle of whisky, a lighter and a phone suspected to be owned by Liam were discovered, with officials noting fingerprints on every item.

Authorities also confirmed finding a white powder along with medications. Additionally, a notebook and the musician's passport were also recovered, reports Chronicle Live.

In the wake of the autopsy report, Liam's family issued a statement expressing their deep sorrow over his passing, stating: "Liam will forever live in our hearts and we'll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul. We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time."
