Liam Payne fans set up shrine to former One Direction star at Jesus Green in Cambridge

A shrine paying tribute to former One Direction star Liam Payne has been set up by fans in Cambridge. Floral tributes and personal notes have been laid out on a tree in Jesus Green.

The singer died on October 16, 2024, after falling from the third-floor balcony of the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was 31 years old at the time of his death, with tributes pouring in from fans and celebrities from around the world.

Thousands of people gathered to remember him at events all across the UK, USA, Argentina and other countries. In Cambridge, a memorial for the late singer was held and attended by fans at Jesus Green.

Photos have now shown a tree at the park which has been decorated in photos and artwork of the singer. Flowers have also been placed on the ground with letters and notes hanging from some of the branches.

Argentinian authorities have confirmed that three people have been charged in connection with Payne's death. None have been named by police and an investigation is ongoing.
