Liam Payne hotel staff made frantic 911 call before singer's death as heartbreaking details emerge
Staff at the hotel in Argentina where Liam Payne was staying made a 'frantic' call to emergency services, shortly before the former One Direction star fell to his death from a third floor room. And the conversation had on the phone has now been translated to English as heartbreaking details emerge.
Around 10.30pm UK time on Wednesday, news broke that Liam had died, with his body found on an internal patio in the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires. It's believed that Liam fell from around 13 or 14 metres and suffered "very serious injuries incompatible with life." In a statement, the local ambulance manager told TN: "At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel.
"At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group. Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation."
As more and more people woke up to news of Liam's death on Thursday, it dominated TV channels, including Sky News, where Kaye Burley anchored the early morning broadcast. And it was during her show that the 911 call from the Casa Sur hotel's desk manager to emergency services played out on screen, having been translated to English.
After revealing his location, the manager told the operator they had a "guest drunk on drugs and alcohol," before adding: "When he's conscious, he's breaking everything in the room."
The frantic manager then added: "You need to send someone with urgency, because we don't know if the guest's life is in danger. He's in a room with a balcony and we're afraid he could do something that could threaten his life."
The manager also revealed Liam had been staying at Casa Sur for three days, explaining that staff were unable to get into his room as they again pleaded for emergency services to be" sent out urgently."
