Liam Payne's family heartbroken' by his death as they release moving statement
Liam Payne's family have released a statement on the singer's death, saying they were 'heartbroken' at his passing and will "remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul."
It was around 10.30pm UK time that news of Liam's death broke around the world, with it being confirmed that the 31-year-old One Direction and solo star had died after falling from a third floor room at the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was revealed that staff at the hotel had called emergency services in the minutes leading up to Liam's death, having become concerned for a guest thought to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
At 5.04pm local time, a further call was made when Liam's body was found on an internal patio following his fall, with him then being pronounced dead at the scene, having suffered injuries that were "incompatible with life," with "no possibility of resuscitation."
Liam's death quickly sent shockwaves around the world and, in the hours that followed several high profile stars posted tribute to him, including Paris Hilton, Charlie Puth, Olly Murs and Dermot O'Leary, with The X Factor, the show that propelled Liam to global fame, also speaking out on their upset at his passing.
And, shortly before 2pm on Thursday, Liam's family released a statement which read: "We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul. We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time."
