Liar star Shelley Conn has been teasing next week's "unpredictable" finale.

The penultimate episode of the ITV thriller saw Laura (Joanne Froggatt) and DI Vanessa Harmon (Conn) finally catch rapist Andrew (Ioan Gruffudd) red-handed, only for the villain to wriggle out of their grasp.

And it seems that the finale will have even more twists up its sleeve.

"It's a controversial subject and I think the way it was set up, a who's lying [situation], it could have gone either way," Conn explained on today's (October 10) Lorraine.

"Once there was the revelation and we found out who was lying and who was telling the truth, you thought, 'Oh where's this gonna go?', and I think that's the genius of the writing of Jack and Harry Williams.

"It's so unpredictable. They can bring things out that you didn't... I don't think anyone expected what happened to me to happen. As the show goes on, and it's the final episode next week, there are more revelations and you will be surprised."

One thing we do know is that Liar series one will have a definite ending, even if there is scope for a second series.

"This absolutely does come to a conclusion in the sixth episode. But there is an offshoot," she teased.

"There are more questions that can arise from the conclusion. We could do one more. I don't think it would be any more than that, but there is a possibility of doing a second season."

Liar concludes next Monday (October 16) at 9pm on ITV.
