Indie legends The Libertines will be returning to the Kent coast for a huge homecoming show in Margate next year. The Can’t Stand Me Now rockers will take to Dreamland in July for a captivating outdoor concert as part of Margate Summer Series 2025.

Earlier this year, the band released their fourth studio album ‘All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade’, which took a great deal of inspiration from the town of Margate. Locals are sure to recognise The Albion Rooms front and centre on the album’s cover, the boutique hotel turned recording studio owned by The Libertines where the LP was actually recorded.

Despite being locals, this will be the band’s debut performance at Dreamland with the gig booked for Saturday, July 5. Supporting The Libertines will be fellow Kent rock band Soft Play from Tunbridge Wells who have just completed the UK leg of their Heavy Jelly tour.

London group Sports Team have also been booked in a support slot, with more acts still to be announced. Libertines frontman Pete Doherty spent a great deal of time actually living in Margate, before relocating to Normandy in France with his wife Katia De Vidas.

The group celebrated the release of All Quiet on the East Esplanade with a handful of Margate shows at the end of 2023, taking to The Lido and The Albion Rooms for some intimate concerts. Known for huge hits including Don’t Look Back into the Sun, Time for Heroes, Music When The Lights Go Out, as well as recent tracks Run Run Run and Night of the Hunter, this monumental hometown gig is one that’s not to be missed.

Margate Summer Series 2025 promises to be the ‘biggest edition to date’, with Texas, Olly Murs and UB40 featuring Ali Campbell also booked to perform. This year’s string of summer shows saw huge talents including Craig David, Nile Rodgers and Chic, Bryan Adams, Limp Bizkit, JLS and many more perform at Dreamland.

Pre-sale tickets for The Libertines gig will be available from 10am on Thursday, November 7 to those who sign up on the Dreamland website. The general sale will then kick off from 9am on Friday, November 8. Full booking details are available here.
