Lidl has today confirmed the opening date of its latest North Wales store. The German discounter has been developing a supermarket on Connah's Quay High Street, relocating from its current unit at Deeside Retail Park.

The store will be at a former Co-op shop and planning was secured back in 2022. Demolition work at the new location started this year and the existing store put up for sale.

This week Lidl GB confirmed that the shop would open on December 5. The retailer still plans more shops in the region with a full list of target towns at the bottom of the story.

The new Connah's Quay store is 25% larger with a sales area of 1,256m². It will include a bakery, an expanded chiller section, and improved car parking.

It has also created a handful of new jobs, whilst colleagues from the old store will transfer to the new location.

Stuart Jardine, Regional Head of Property at Lidl GB, said: “We’re thrilled to be opening our new store here in Connah’s Quay. Not only is this store bigger and better than our Queensferry site, but it’s also in a fantastic location within the town, making it even easier for shoppers to access our high-quality products at unbeatable prices.

"As we approach the festive season, we’re excited to welcome customers old and new to enjoy our enhanced offering, including all their favourite Lidl Christmas treats. We’re confident the community will be as delighted with the new store as we are.”
