Lidl's cola truck arrives in Hull city centre to spread some festive cheer
Queues have been building in Hull city centre as a bright red cola lorry pulled up in Queen Victoria Square - but not the one we're used to seeing tour the country!
Lidl's Freeway On The Freeway tour has arrived in Hull to spread some Christmas joy, with giveaways and festive fun aplenty throughout Sunday afternoon. The truck rolled in early ahead of its planned noon starting time to get set up, but it only meant passers by could enjoy the pop-up spectacle that little bit longer. Ahead of its grand opening, queues of people were already lining up close by to see what was in store.
The 15-tonne, 20-metre long truck is themed around Lidl's Freeway cola. The lorry is styled with a label of the drink, as well as a pull-ring-style back hatch. The surrounding area has also been decorated with plenty of Christmas trees to create a mini winter wonderland. On each of its stops, the first visitors will be given a present, with a chance of winning a Golden Ticket worth £100 to spend on a Christmas food shop in store.

Queen Victoria Square, which will be hosting the traditional Christmas light switch-on this coming Thursday (November 21), has already seen the arrival of its centrepiece Norwegian Spruce and has now become even more festive as the Lidl team has brought along decorations to get everyone in the seasonal mood.
The tour, which is stopping at nine different cities until December 1, will see around 2,000 presents handed out filled with 'Middle Aisle' goodies, giving away food shops while Christmas wishes will be granted to a lucky few. There will also be wintry treats being given away by the supermarket chain, such as biscuits, seasonal chutneys and mulled wine.
The truck will be open to visit until 6pm.
Marketing director at Lidl GB, Joanna Gomer, said: "Giving back to the communities we serve is really important to us and our exciting new Freeway truck allows us to get into the heart of them this year.
"By touring nine stops across the country, we'll be using our giant truck to hand out present boxes, give away festive food shops and grant wishes that will make dreams come true. Look out for the Freeway truck on its tour and most importantly, come join the fun."
