Fending off dust and dirt from your skirting boards is now easier than ever.

How frequently are your skirting boards given a bit of elbow grease? It's not often deemed a high-priority task on cleaning rosters, yet considering their proximity to the often scrubbed floors, you might assume they warrant more attention than regularly received.

Skirting boards seem to be dust magnets, surpassing many other spots within the home with this unwanted accumulation. Yet, the drudgery of scrubbing them clean can be quite off-putting. Nobody fancies the idea of stooping or kneeling to wipe them with a damp rag, and even utilising your vacuum cleaner's small add-ons doesn't always leave them shimmering as anticipated.

But what if there was an ingenious method to effortlessly whiz away the skirting board dust?

One TikTok cleaning fan has revealed what they term a "life-changing" trick that tackles those tricky corners with your vacuum cleaner, ensuring you can capture dust efficiently while imbuing your space with a pleasant scent. Nicole, in her viral video, instructs viewers that you just need to secure a "dryer sheet" to the nozzle of the vacuum using a hair tie.

She said: "The single best hack I've learned in 2024 is this, and it's going to change your life. Take your vacuum, whichever one you have, take this little attachment and put it on the end. Now take a dryer sheet and secure it onto the end with a hair tie, and then use this to clean your baseboards. Not only is this going to clean your baseboards but it's going to leave a nice fresh smell. It also leaves this waxy film on your baseboards which helps prevent things from sticking in the future. This was so effective and I got so much dust and dirt off - this is the best cleaning hack I've ever used."

In her video caption, Nicole revealed she "never wanted" to clean her skirting boards until discovering this trick, making the task less of a chore than ever.

Dryer sheets, typically used for reducing static, softening clothes, and adding fragrance in tumble dryers, are available at Tesco for about £2.50 for a pack of 40, or on Amazon where a "mega pack" of 408 Lenor sheets costs £34.10, working out to approximately 8p per sheet.

The video left viewers astounded, with one person declaring the hack "life-changing".

One viewer exclaimed: "My mind is actually blown." Another commented: "That's pretty life-changing to be honest." A third thanked Nicole, saying: "Genius! Thanks for sharing."
