'Life-threatening' flood emergency in Australia

Thousands of people were forced to leave their homes and dozens have been rescued. Evacuation orders continue across low-lying parts of Sydney, with over 83 flood rescues performed today by the NSW SES. Residents fear flooding could worsen as Georges River in New South Wales is set to hit high tide at midnight. According to Stephanie Cooke, emergency services minister for the state of New South Wales, "this is a life-threatening emergency situation".
