A SINKING boat in the Solent prompted a coastguard response this afternoon (Thursday, August 18).

HM Coastguard received a VHF radio call just before 5.45pm from a sailing dingy with two people onboard, saying the vessel was sinking.

A harbour vessel was sent and recovered the two people and Cowes RNLI lifeboat was also sent to recover the vessel.

The two crew were taken to Cowes, and the dingy was moved to shallow water by Cowes RNLI lifeboat who are currently pumping out water from the vessel.
