Lightning Flashes as Damaging Storm Hits San Angelo

Power was cut to 26,000 customers in San Angelo, Texas, on the morning of May 18, as a storm downed power lines, power supplier AEP Texas reported.

Another 9,350 were left without power in Abilene, where storm winds damaged homes, vehicles, trees, and power lines.

This footage shows lightning flashing over San Angelo as the storm rolled through. The National Weather Service had previously issued a tornado warning for San Angelo. The weather service told Storyful in the early afternoon of May 18 that it could not yet determine if a tornado had formed in the area, as the storm had passed through during the night with heavy rain.
