Lightning Strike Kills Husband And Wife

A married couple were killed and a teenage boy injured when lightning struck near a beauty spot in northern Arizona.

Coconino County Sheriff's officials say the names of the pair were being withheld until relatives could be notified.

The man and woman lived outside the United States, but their hometowns and ages were not immediately available.

Authorities say one of the victims may have been directly hit by a lightning bolt that struck about 3pm on Tuesday in the area of the LeFevre Scenic Outlook on Highway 89A, around eight miles north of Jacobs Lake.

The man and woman were in a group of people at the overlook and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The teenager was not related to the other victims and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
