Lil Cox lost her twin sister to Covid just two days before her vaccination letter arrived
(Good Morning Britain)A 96-year-old identical twin has shared her heartbreak at the loss of her sister following a battle with coronavirus.
Lilian Cox and Doris Hobday, widely known as the Tipton Twins, were the UK's oldest identical twins before Doris’s death shortly after Christmas.
On Wednesday, Lilian – or Lil – gave her first televised interview without her beloved sibling, the morning after the UK hit the tragic milestone of 100,000 Covid deaths.
Appearing by video link on Good Morning Britain, she was greeted by host Piers Morgan who said: “I’m so sorry. You and your sister captured the hearts of all our viewers, and we all fell in love with you.”

He continued: “I was so distraught to hear that Doris had sadly lost her life,” before asking his guest: “How are you, and how are you doing?”
Lil, sitting alongside her grandson Brayden with a blanket over her knees, replied stoically: "Well you've got to make the best of it, haven’t you. There's no bringing her back.”
Asked by GMB co-host Susanna Reid what she missed about her sister, Lil replied: “There was only me and her for how many years.”
The sisters, who lived in neighbouring flats in the West Midlands, were both admitted to hospital after contracting the virus.
However, after enduring the “fight of her life”, Lil recovered from the illness, but Doris passed away on January 5 – two days before her vaccination letter arrived.
Earlier this week, the 96-year-old said “there would not have been half as many death” if Boris Johnson had placed the country under lockdown earlier.
“These things happen for a reason but it's not fair,” she said in an interview with the Sunday people.
“We came into the world together.”
