Liverpool continue to be linked with a move for Lille defender Leny Yoro.

Recent rumours have seen the Reds linked with the possibility of signing new central defenders during the summer transfer window. Joel Matip's exit this summer leaves Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah as the only recognised centre-backs at the club going into the summer.

Yoro is one player who has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer. Reports from Gianluca Di Marzio have claimed that the Reds are "forcefully" pushing to sign Yoro this summer, with Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid also apparently interested in the centre-back.

The 18-year-old has been one of Lille's star players this season, featuring 44 times in all competitions at centre-back. Yoro helped Lille reach the quarter-final of the Europa Conference and finish fourth in Ligue 1 to secure a spot in the Champions League qualifiers.

Lille boss Paulo Fonseca is reportedly set to become the next manager of AC Milan. However, it was just last month that he explained why Yoro has earned so much game time despite being just 18 years old.

Fonseca praised Yoro's all-round ability despite being relatively inexperienced at first-team level before this season. The Lille manager went on to hint that Yoro may be set to join a new club this summer.

"To me, the players don't have age, they have quality," Fonseca told BBC Sport in April.

"Because here we don't have the possibility to buy very expensive players, we find a way to make the young players grow.

"I believe Leny [Yoro] in the next year will be at one of the best clubs in Europe. He started here at 16 with us. He is very ambitious but very disciplined.

"He grew a lot but he is a kid with a big maturity, with big quality. He's very focused, very concentrated, he wants to learn every day and I have no doubt in modern football he will be one of the best central defenders in the world."
