Lily Allen admitted she had grown a beard following her time in the USA for the American leg of her tour.

Allen, who had to pull out of shows in Chicago and Minneapolis after falling ill and receiving some bad news from home recently, appeared on This Morning to talk to hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes about her autobiography, ‘My Thoughts Exactly’.

As she spoke about how she enjoyed writing the book, the outspoken singer was asked about how she felt going on tour again.

Explaining that she enjoyed her trip, the 33 year old quipped: “I put on two stone and grew a beard after all the chicken wings I was eating.”

However, Allen was quick to add that the extra facial fluff may have been due to the medication she was on when she became unwell.

The ‘Smile’ singer also spoke about the positives and negatives of being in the public eye.

She said: “I love writing songs and love being on stage performing them. I don’t like the negative stuff. I’m not going to lie. I’m a fighter and when I’m backed into a corner I lash out. Some people are better dealing with it than others.”

Insisting that she was happy to have written the book, Allen added: “Yeah I’m really glad. I’m transitioning into a different part of my life and career.”

Whilst Lily continued to speak about her career and her private life, viewers watching at home noticed something unusual about the necklace she had chosen to wear.

Despite the show’s banner covering most of it, Twitter users identified the shape of it and expressed their shock at seeing it on the ITV daytime show.
