Lily Allen on 'wrong reasons' she had children as she admits 'yearning'
Lily Allen has made a startling revelation about her decision to have children - saying she did it for the wrong reasons. The Smile singer, 39, admitted her decision to have children was driven by a desire for unconditional love and a need to take a break from her career without facing a barrage of questions.
The singer and actress had her two daughters, Marnie, 12 and Ethel, 11, with her ex-husband Sam Cooper when she was in her mid-20s On her Miss Me? podcast with best friend Miquita Oliver, she said: "I think I had children for all the wrong reasons really because I was yearning for unconditional love, which I haven't felt in my life since I was a child. And also my career was at such a high speed, you know high pressure and I'm a people pleaser and I felt like very overwhelmed by what was happening."
She further explained: "I just didn't get much respite and I felt like the one way to stop people hassling me, it's not about me its about this other person that's inside me."

When asked by Miquita if her plan worked, Lily confirmed that it did, adding: "Yeah they did leave me alone. I don't think I really understood what I got myself into."
Lily candidly discussed her personal life with David Harbour on her podcast, highlighting a challenge that had left her questioning whether she was perimenopausal. She said: "I go through horny phases and unhorny phases. And maybe this is related a little bit to hormones.
"I am in a 'dry patch' at the moment and I'm not really w****** right now, it all seems a bit laborious and a bit of a task but I think I might be a bit perimenopausal so I'm going to see a specialist and see if I can get started on the old HRT."
She also mentioned looking for a remedy, adding: "I'm going to deal with my s*** and get some testosterone cream to rub on my inner thigh so I can start c****** furiously all over the place."
