Linda Nolan has shared details of plans she is making for her own funeral after recently sharing the news that her cancer has spread to her brain.

The 64 year old singer has metastatic breast cancer which had spread to her hip and her liver before doctors recently found two large tumours on her brain surrounded by several smaller ones.

Nolan has now started to plan her funeral, selecting her coffin and the music she would like to be played following the news of her worsening condition.

The Nolan’s star admitted that both her late husband Brian Hudson who passed away from skin cancer in 2007 and sister Bernie Nolan who died from breast cancer in 2013 both also planned their own funerals.

She told the Mirror: "Brian organised his funeral and it was amazing. Bernie arranged hers. It’s easier for people left behind. I’ve gone into it a little bit. A Neil Sedaka song, Our Last Song Together. And I know the funeral people I’m going to use."

Nolan also admitted that her sister Maureen Nolan, 68, helped her decide on a very individual choice for her coffin that she is “absolutely” going to have.

She explained: “Maureen said, 'Look at this coffin, it was made for you, it’s pink glitter.”

Nolan was first diagnosed with primary breast cancer in 2005 and had a mastectomy and 18 rounds of chemotherapy at the time.

The diagnosis was six years after her eldest sister Anne was also diagnosed with the disease and four years before Bernie discovered she had cancer.

Despite her initial treatment being a success, Nolan was subsequently diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in 2017 with metastases to her hip.

She then found the disease had spread to her liver in 2020.

Last month she confirmed that her cancer had also metastasised to her brain and she has since undergone 11 radiotherapy sessions in an attempt to shrink the tumours.

All secondary breast cancer is incurable and treatments offered are palliative only.

She told Good Morning Britain in March: "I've always been open about my treatments and what's happening in my life. I just want to tell you, from me, that unfortunately and sadly for me my cancer has now spread to my brain, which I only found out on Monday.

“That's obviously very frightening because there isn't much help for brain cancer at the moment apart from radiotherapy, which I am going to be having."

She added: "But there is a new drug, which has been in use for a year, for brain cancer, and we're going to try me on that as a chemo drug with some other treatments.

"I've always been honest and I just wanted people to know that's the situation and I'm not giving up, I'm positive. I'm going to lose my hair, again, for the fourth time. My sister said: 'At least you've got some nice wigs now’.”
