Lindsay Lohan reveals alleged domestic abuse inspired her new reality series

Lindsay Lohan has revealed the inspiration behind creating her new MTV reality series Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club, which launched Tuesday night in the US.

The 32-year-old actress says she wanted to create a place where everyone ‘could feel safe’ after an alleged domestic abuse incident with her former fiancé Russian multimillionaire Egor Tarabasov.

“I was in a very tumultuous relationship. I was in a different place in my life. Instead of crying or getting angry, I said I’m going to own this beach one day because I always want everyone to feel safe,” Lohan said during the premiere episode.

On the show, Lohan is seen managing her new beach bar and club in the Greek island of Mykonos.

Her creative partner, Panos Spentzos, went into further detail behind her inspiration for the series.

“Three years ago, Lindsay was there on that beach with her ex-boyfriend. She got hit by him. She wanted to remember this beach as a very fun place, not what happened to her,” Spentoz said.

Back in 2016 Lohan alleged in a series of interviews that Tarabasov had been abusive towards her on multiple occasions.

Speaking to the Mail on Sunday Lohan said: “I realise now you can’t stay in a relationship just for love. No woman can be hit and stay with that person if that person isn’t prepared to say sorry,” she told the publication.

In the premiere episode, Lohan also said that the Greek Island club was a chance for her to reboot her career, and to build herself ‘an empire.’

“I don’t want these kids f***ing up my future!” the Mean Girls star lamented about her bar staff.

“I want to build an empire here, this is not Girls Gone Wild. The kids from America I brought in are like party, party, party and I’m like no, no no, you’re working,” she added.

Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club premieres in the UK on Wednesday January 9th at 10pm.
