Lindsay Lohan hit the headlines earlier this week after she defended disgraced film exec Harvey Weinstein following a string of serious sexual abuse allegations against him.

The actress caused outrage in two now-deleted Instagram videos, where she insisted that what was happening to Weinstein was “wrong”.

Speaking to her 6.2million followers, Lindsay said at the time: “I’m in Dubai right now, I’m at home and I feel very bad for Harvey Weinstein right now, I don’t think it’s right what’s going on.”

The 31-year-old star also slammed Weinstein’s wife Georgina Chapman, who sensationally left the producer soon after the allegations broke.

She said: “I think Georgina needs to take a stand and be there for her husband. He’s never harmed me or done anything to me, we’ve done several movies together.”

The clips sparked an angry response from Lindsay’s fans, prompting the actress to delete them, however, she has now seemingly hit back at her critics in a bizarre new Instagram post.

Alongside a screenshot from her film The Parent Trap, Lindsay said that she herself is a victim of abuse, writing: “Whatever anyone says. I am FOR women empowerment.

“As if most women in America cared how I was abused… when not one person stood up for me while he was abusing me… you could only imagine what it feels like to come out as a strong woman.

“BUT acknowledge this, we all make our own choices and wake up in our own beds in the morning.

“I prefer to go to my own home and wake up alone. BE STRONG let us not blame anyone as karma will always take its toll.”

The ramble confused some fans, with one commenting on the picture: “Your post hardly makes sense and lacks flow. I sincerely hope you’re not on drugs and that you’re not about to have an Amanda Bynes meltdown.”

Although the original captioned remained up for a few hours, Lindsay has since edited it so that it reads: “Whatever anyone says, I am FOR #womenempowerment #strongwoman #BESTRONG #karma will always takes its toll #WomensRights”.
