Line of Duty's Adrian Dunbar breaks silence on show return talks
Line of Duty star Adrian Dunbar has broken his silence on the rumours that the BBC show is set to return, saying it could “burn up the internet”.
The crime-drama, which depicted the exploits of an anti-corruption unit within the UK police force, ran for six seasons between 2012 and 2021, receiving critical and popular acclaim throughout its run.
Despite its popularity, the future of the show has remained unclear in the intervening three years since its last episode, though rumours of a seventh season being greenlit soon have been mooted.

In anticipation of the expected announcement, Dunbar — who has played Ted Hastings in all six series — teased to Times Radio that confirmation could be on the way soon, expressing his hope at reprising his role once more.
“I hope so,” he replied when asked if the show would return. “[It] looks like it [will]. All the signals and everything is kind of, you know, [positive] but as somebody said, until the script hits the desk you can't be 100% sure.
“So we're all hoping that someone somewhere will make an announcement and say, ‘yes, it's happening.’ And we can all take it from there. I can tell you one thing... the day they announce it, it's going to burn up the internet.”

Dunbar, who also stars in Ridley, spoke about his character in greater detail during the interview, describing his decade-plus stint on the show as a “humbling and satisfying experience”.
“To end up creating what is an iconic character on British television and also within an iconic TV show would have been a huge ambition of mine,” he said. “And so to do it is a very humbling and very satisfying experience. So that's how I'd describe it. It's been something that, when you think about it, keeps you warm — it's very, very nice.”
