Massive Line for Trader Joe's Limited Edition Mini-Tote Release Seen at Shopping Center

A long line of hopeful shoppers wrapped around a strip mall in Monrovia, California, on Wednesday, September 18, trying to snag a mini tote bag from Trader Joe’s during a limited re-release of the product that began that day.

Video filmed by @world_of_magical_mugs shows people lined up waiting to get in to the store just before it was due to open at 8 am local time.

“People said they waited outside of Trader Joe’s since 6:30 am,” @world_of_magical_mugs told Storyful. “Trader Joe’s handed out 300 tickets that morning with a limit of 4 tote bags per customer. The Monrovia location had 3 separate releases that day: 8 am, 1 pm and 5 pm to give a chance to everyone throughout the day. I thought that was fair, as a lot of people work Monday-Friday and can’t attend an 8 am release.”

The mini-totes were first introduced at stores in March and quickly sold out. Instances of resellers listing the item for hundreds of dollars more than the shelf price of $2.99 were reported following the initial release. Credit: @world_of_magical_mugs via Storyful
