Lisa Snowdon's health battle made her 'scared to leave house' and 'in pain'

Lisa Snowdon has revealed that she felt it almost wasn't "safe to leave the house" due to her health struggles, which at times left her unable to "get out of bed".

The 53-year-old TV presenter opened up about her "scary symptoms" during a candid chat with sports broadcaster Gabby Logan on the latest episode of The Mid Point podcast, reports the Express.

The iconic model and This Morning star detailed the challenging symptoms she faced while going through menopause and shared an important message for others who might be experiencing similar issues.

She said: "My periods started going from a 28-day cycle to a 23, to an 18, to then every three days and then a really heavy bleed where you're almost haemorrhaging blood and you're just...

"You know, it's not safe to leave the house almost. Pain; couldn't get out of bed some days and you know, for anybody who has been affected by perimenopause or menopause or hasn't been yet, please don't be scared."

Continuing her story, Lisa said: "I hope to talk about this and yes, there are some scary symptoms, but now knowing what I know, if I'd have recognised them to be perimenopause or menopause or...it would have made much more sense. I could've got some help."

She also shed light on the extent of her initial symptoms, which ranged from anxiety and depression to panic attacks, heart palpitations, and even a "bout of vertigo", leaving her feeling "spun out" and nauseous.

Lisa has spoken candidly about her struggles with the menopause, revealing she experienced debilitating symptoms, including anxiety and irritability .

The Celebrity MasterChef winner, 53, previously said she began to notice changes during the "early perimenopausal stages" of her life, but didn't understand what was happening to her.

She recalled feeling "very peculiar, very strange, very emotional, quite unwell". In the interview with Gabby, Lisa also recalled having to lie down and was unsure how she would be able to drive back home to London after visiting her dad.

Lisa has since written a book, 'Just Getting Started: Lessons in Life, Love and Menopause', which she wishes she "had ten years ago".
