Newcastle Christmas Market 2024 stalls in full as Fenwick and John Lewis confirmed
The city centre is currently being transformed into a winter wonderland with construction under way on this year's bigger and better Christmas Market.
The stage is being set at Old Eldon Square for an entire festive village - where Santa's tipi is taking shape and a fairground carousel and giant Christmas tree are already in place - and for stalls around the Monument where the annual Moosenwirt alpine pop-up also will be ready for business when Newcastle Christmas Market launches on Saturday. An official red ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned that morning to mark what will be a significantly bigger market this year and, following Tuesday night's switch-on of the city's Christmas lights, the whole scene will be looking a seasonal treat.
Local company EVNT Inspirations has been working with Newcastle City Council and business improvement district company NE1 Ltd on the new-look market and it is introducing new family activities and experiences including Elf Workshops, Santa Storytime Sessions and a performance stage. Of course, it's the stalls selling street food, drink and gifts that pull in the crowds and this year the focus upon local products will see some up-and-coming brands featured from across the city and the wider region during the market's run.

More than 35 traditional stalls will be hosted by local traders and among them will be Wylam Brewery and Newcastle Gin company. This year also sees city department stalls Fenwick and John Lewis represented for the first time.
Here is a round-up of traders who will have stalls around the Monument although there may be some changes to the set-up during the run. There also will be some stalls in Old Eldon Square.
Opening times at the market will be from 10am daily until 8pm and 5pm on Sundays. It will end on December 22.

The nearby Grainger Market will be going all-out for Christmas too, with Sunday openings to come in December, free crafts and choir performances. City council leader Coun Karen Kilgour said the new Christmas Village and combination of markets amongst the city celebrations makes for "a vibrant Christmas offer" which "is not only fantastic for local people it also attracts visitors to the city and provides opportunities for local businesses too."
She added: "This can only be good for Newcastle as a whole and everyone who lives here as it strengthens our economy, making our city a better place to live”. Ben Whitfield, director of communications at NE1 Ltd, said: “Let the Christmas festivities commence!
"The unveiling of Fenwick’s Christmas window at the start of the month and the Christmas lights switch-on heralds the start of the city’s celebrations and the excitement is building." He said there is a huge appetite for Newcastle to become a major seasonal destination and added: "We are committed to boosting the city’s Christmas offer and have great aspirations for it to continue to expand and improve, to benefit the whole city.”
