Everyone likes to dream up alternative casts every now and again, but even more fun than that is finding out which actors just missed out on those all-important starring roles.
Today it's X-Men's turn, and the list of celebs who auditioned for the first movie is seriously incredible. So incredible in fact, we might just start a campaign to get this parallel movie made.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, David Hayter - who wrote the screenplay for the first two X-Men films - gave the inside scoop on who the likes of Professor X, Storm and Wolverine were almost immortalised by.
"I was brought on as they were casting, so I was lucky enough to be there for some of the people who came in," Hayter explained. "[Like] Terence Stamp for Xavier and Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey for Storm."
And the madness doesn't end there. "Michael Jackson came in because he wanted to play Professor X. It was amazing. Shaq [O'Neal] came in. Viggo Mortensen came in," he added.
Revealing all about the X-Men we could have had, Hayter added: "I really liked Viggo for Wolverine, but it didn't come together for whatever reason.
"Angela Bassett was our first choice for Storm, but her agents wanted more money than we had at the time. Same with Rachael Leigh Cook for Rogue."
With two more X-Men films on the horizon for 2018, we can only hope that more of these would-be bookings find their way out of the casting room - ASAP.
