Sad news Little Ant and Dec fans, the miniature version of TV's favourite presenting duo are no more, as ITV has revealed its plans to scrap the duo from Saturday Night Takeaway.

The Saturday Night Takeaway regulars aren't so little anymore, having outgrown their famous roles, and won't be replaced on the show, ITV confirmed to Digital Spy.

Little Ant (Neil Overend) is moving up to high school, while Little Dec (Haydn Reid) needs to take on his SATs next year, so the pair are going to focus on their studies.

Little Ant and Dec went out on a massive high thanks to their Walt Disney World finale during Saturday Night Takeaway last year, and there are currently no plans to replace them.

The pair are actually the second iteration of the mini-Geordies, following in the tiny footsteps of James Pallister and Dylan McKenna-Redshaw, who took on the duties of being cheeky to celebrities way back in 2003.

They later reappeared to select the new Little Ant and Dec via an Apprentice-style competition, which you can see below.

Saturday Night Takeaway still features former Gogglebox star and I'm a Celeb winner Scarlett Moffatt helping out with presenting duties, having taken over from Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts.

Saturday Night Takeaway returns to ITV on February 24, 2018
