The little-known John Lewis rooftop bar with heated igloos views of Oxford Street Christmas lights

As the city comes alive with the glow of twinkling Christmas lights, a hidden gem lies waiting above the bustling streets of central London, which many Londoners don't know about .

Perched on the 6th floor of the iconic John Lewis & Partners flagship store on Oxford Street, the 1864 Rooftop Bar & Kitchen has been transformed into a cozy winter oasis. Named in honour of the year John Lewis & Partners was founded, 1864 Rooftop Bar & Kitchen accommodates up to 200 people standing with 64 seats for lounging.

You will be greeted by a scene that seems a world away from the shopping frenzy just floors beneath. The rooftop has been outfitted with heated igloos and chalet-inspired private huts, creating an intimate and inviting atmosphere perfect for indulging in the venue's sumptuous seasonal offerings. There is also live DJ sets setting the mood on Friday and Saturday nights.

The culinary team, led by the renowned Benugo group, has curated a festive feasting menu brimming with decadent dishes. Standouts include morcilla pigs in blankets, a rich butternut squash and truffle risotto, and a heavenly chocolate and olive oil mousse with cherry compote. To complement the indulgent fare, the bar has partnered with Grey Goose vodka to craft a selection of bespoke winter cocktails.

Sipping on a Chocolate Orange Martini or a warming Grey Goose Hot Chocolate, guests can gaze out over the twinkling lights of Oxford Street. Other seasonal cocktails include the spiced Winter Queen, blending Plantation rum, Xante Pear cognac, and oriental sencha, as well as a Decadent Mulled Wine laced with Burnt Faith Brandy.

Festive feasting menus are available for groups of six or more, allowing friends and family to gather and savor the flavors of the season in a cozy, intimate setting.
