As the crisp seasons of autumn and winter approach, drying clothes becomes a more formidable challenge. Yet, a clever woman has shared an obscure tip that promises to accelerate the drying time for your attire considerably.

For many Britons, the indoor laundry drying struggle is a well-known issue, particularly when missing the rapid drying convenience of summer. Those seeking to reduce their clothes' drying time may find a suggestion from a cleaning wizard to be just the answer they need.

Nicola Lewis, a decluttering aficionado with a strong following of nearly 200k on her Instagram handle @thisgirlcanorganise, let slip a 'hidden' washing machine function that could greatly lessen the dampness in garments during the nippier months.

In her most recent Instagram reel aptly named "How to dry your clothes indoors", Nicola is seen altering her washing machine setting to the "Drum/Spin" feature, delineating her technique with the caption "Double Spin for the Win."

The Mirror cites Nicola's proposal for an effective approach towards making laundry less wet immediately after washing; she recommends keeping the load in the drum for another spin cycle.

This method does not use additional water but subjects the clothing to another round of spinning to extract excess moisture. Her reel's caption advises: "Double spin your laundry! Your clothes will come out much drier allowing them to dry quicker. Always give your clothes a quick shake before hanging to dry to remove any creases."

Nicola has shared her savvy tips for drying clothes indoors, suggesting the use of an airer alongside a dehumidifier. In her own words: "A dehumidifier will draw moisture from the air and dry your clothes quicker. If you don't have a dehumidifier open a window and place the airer near natural light."

She also recommends employing a fan to "circulate cold air helping your clothes to dry faster and prevent mould", and notes it's "cheaper than putting the heating on". Nicola advises spacing out garments on the airer and using hangers to "speed up the drying process".

Rotating the clothes occasionally is another tip she offers. Nicola's advice has been met with appreciation from her followers, with one commenting: "We've just invested in a dehumidifier and it's bloody amazing."

Another follower remarked on the absence of condensation and mould since following her advice: "No more condensation on the windows and that battle with mould feels like a distant memory! " A third expressed their "surprised" reaction at the effectiveness of the methods and the speed at which their clothes dried. An additional tip from an enthusiastic follower was to "Very pleased but don't forget to double spin!"
