Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has signed a solo music deal.

The singer quit the group back in December following nine years as a foursome.

Sharing picture on Instagram of herself in front of the Polydor sign, she wrote: "So excited to announce that I've signed my first ever solo record deal with @polydorrecords @universalmusicgroup.

"This is such a pinch me moment. I cannot wait for you guys to hear what I've been working on."

Jesy added no further updates about when we can expect her first music.

The 29-year-old announced last year that she would no longer be part of the band due to her mental health.

"The past nine years in Little Mix has been the most incredible time of my life," she said at the time.

"We have achieved things I never thought were possible. From winning our first Brit Award to our sold-out shows at the O2.

"Making friends and fans all over the world, I can't thank you all enough from the bottom of my heart for making me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. You have always been there to support and encourage me, and I will never forget it.

"The truth is recently being in the band has taken a toll on my mental health. I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard.

"There comes a time in life when we need to reinvest in taking care of ourselves rather than focusing on making other people happy, and I feel like now is the time to begin that process."

The group has continued as a trio, and recently made history to become the first girl group to win British Group at the Brit Awards.

In their winning speech Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards celebrated their 10 years in the industry and thanked the girlbands that had come before them, as well as thanking Jesy.
