Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards has revealed that she underwent throat surgery and then took herself straight to the Ivy Cafe for a chocolate cake as consolation.

The 25-year-old told her 8.3 million Instagram followers how she'd had surgery on her oesophagus on Thursday.

The snap showed a fresh-faced Edwards posing with her hands on her face with the remains of the dessert on her plate.

The Power hitmaker captioned the snap: “Only I would have an operation then ask to be taken to the ivy for my favourite chocolate bomb dessert!

“My oesophagus can’t come between me and my love of food. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”

Edwards previously detailed battling problems with her oesophagus during her childhood.

Speaking to Now Magazine, Edwards said: “My [biggest body-hang up] is my scar on my stomach.

"When I was little, my oesophagus was too small, so I had to get it operated on to help me eat properly.

"I had to have lots of operations, so that's why I don't want to show it."

In 2012 the pop sensation had her tonsils out, revealing how it left her feeling “very sore.”

At the time, she tweeted: "Getting your tonsils taken out sucks! ‪#SORE Thanks for all the lovely messages & Im sorry to miss some of our gigs! Love u mixers Perrie [sic]."

Edwards has recently returned from a romantic break in Greece with her Liverpool football boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
