Little Mix's anticipated BBC talent show - fronted by Strictly star Chris Ramsey - has been postponed amid the coronavirus crisis.

The competition series was due to air later this month, with the prize being a slot of Little Mix's UK summer tour for the winning act.

The BBC has confirmed in a statement that the show has been delayed, telling Goodhousekeeping.com/uk: "In light of the spread of Covid-19, after much consideration, it has been decided that Little Mix The Search will be postponed until further notice.

"We will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the World Health Organisation and public health organisations."

Last month, it was announced that Chris Ramsey would be presenting the series, with the 33-year-old TV star and podcast host saying: "Since the moment I heard their first single, I knew I wanted to be the fifth member of Little Mix... sadly it looks like I'm going to have to settle for just hosting their new show with them!"

The girl group - including Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson - shared their excitement at his appointment, adding: "We're so happy Chris has come on board to present The Search.

"He's genuinely one of the funniest people we know and he'll bring loads of his South Shields charm to the show. We can't wait."

The show's format was set to include the competing acts sharing a house, with Jade saying it was going to be a mixture of all the best aspects of famous reality TV shows over the years.

Little Mix The Search will air on BBC One.
