Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson opens up about ‘horrendous’ break-up from Jake Roche

Go grab your tissues, because Jesy Nelson has just opened up about the ‘horrendous’ pain of breaking up with someone, months after splitting with Coleen Nolan’s son Jake Roche.

The Little Mix star, 25, broke off her engagement to the Rixton singer last year after dating for more than a year, and since then, she’s kept mum on the break-up, with many of us having to don our Sherlock hats to even discover the pair had split in the first place.

But now, Jesy, who was recently spotted in Paris with rumoured love interest Bradley Churchill, has described heartbreak as one of the “worst pains” while opening up about her own break-up.

Speaking with her Little Mix bandmates – Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards – on radio show Z100, Jesy said: “When you break up with someone, it’s awful. Is it not one of the worst pains? It’s horrendous and we all need a sad song that you sit and cry to.

“At the end of the day, though, you need something that makes you feel empowered… that makes you think, ‘You know what I don’t need you anymore. I’m going to go out with my girls and I’m going to get over you because I don’t need you.’ And that’s exactly what ‘Shout Out To My Ex’ does.”

Meanwhile, Perrie Edwards – who went through her own very public (and no doubt very painful) break-up with ex-fiancé Zayn Malik in 2014 – added how the support between the girls has always helped them to get through tough times in the spotlight.

She said: “I think you have to learn to have a thick skin. I think it comes with being in a girl band and being an artist. People want to know what you’re doing and what you’re up to, which is fine with us.

“We have each other luckily, so we experience everything together and we’ve always got each other’s back.”

Three words: Girl squad goals.
