Prince Harry and Meghan have made ”very little progress” in making up with the royal family, Finding Freedom author has claimed.

Author Omid Scobie — who wrote the biography Finding Freedom with Carolyn Durand — spoke about the breakdown in the relationship between the couple and the royal family during his appearance on Good Morning America on Tuesday.

In promoting the updated version of Finding Freedom, Mr Scobie said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were “desperate to get their story out there” with the explosive Oprah interview which only tore a further rift with the royal family.

While he said there was “little progress” on reconciliation among the family, the writer said time had healed “some of the feelings” involved.

He said: “When we speak to sources close to the couple and also sources close to the royal family, there is this feeling that very little progress is being made.

“However, some feelings have subsided because time has done its things, so the door is very much open for those conversations to happen at some point.”

Having stepped down from their royal duties, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made a life for themselves across the pond with their celebrity neighbours in Los Angeles.

They live in their mansion with their two young children Lilibet Diana and Archie.

Mr Scobie said the couple were “very much in control” of their new life and he celebrated how the couple were building their own legacy.

He added: “Fast forward to a life in the US where they are very much in control.

“The Archewell legacy they’re building - that’s the foundation that’s involved in a number of charitable institutions and a production company - this is the couple showing the world exactly what is important to them.”

Finding Freedom which tells the love story of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has been updated to shed new light on the couple’s life together.
