Live at the Apollo comedian Scott Bennett performing in Accrington
The TV comedian Scott Bennett will be taking the centre stage at Oswaldtwistle Civic Arts Centre and Theatre among two other comedians.
After an eight month break, Comedy Night is returning to the Civic by popular demand and is kicking off the show with three comedians.
On Saturday, February 18, Scott Bennett will be opening the event. Scott made his debut on BBC One’s Live at the Apollo last year and was nominated for Best Club Comedian in 2022.
His last two shows, Leap Year and Relax, were nominated for ‘Best Show’ at the Leicester Comedy Festival and has been named by Chortle as One To Watch for two years running, as well as being voted ‘Best Act’ in the Comics Comic awards.
He has appeared on BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz, The Now Show, The Likely Dads and Elephant in the Room with Sarah Millican, The Summer Festival with Daliso Chaponda, The Comedy Club with Arthur Smith, and Knock Knock with Helen Lederer. He also featured on the BBC One show, Live from The Edinburgh Fringe.
During the lockdown, Scott pioneered the viral hit, Stand up from the Shed, a weekly live streamed stand up show from his garden shed for over 150,000 viewers.
The show achieved national coverage in the press, Sky News, BBC News and Five Live and has had over 150,000 views.
Closing the evening will be Steve Shanyaski, who started comedy after ‘having an epiphany’ when he became bored of his day job and decided he wanted to become a comedian instead.
As well as appearing on BBC Radio Showcase ‘Spanking New’ show, he has picked up various accolades including finalist of the North West Comedian of the Year, and has been named the Holsten Pils Comedian of the Year 2005, and the Birmingham Comedy Festival’s Best Breaking Talent 2005.
Also taking the stage is compere Big Lou who has performed all around the North West and headlined a number of independent comedy nights.
Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start on Saturday, February 18. Tickets cost £7.50 and can be purchased online or by ringing 01254 398319.
