Liverpool's summer transfer window is yet to fully begin but already potential new signings are being linked with moves to Anfield.

The Reds have Arne Slot as their new head coach following the departure of Jurgen Klopp earlier this summer. Slot will be working with sporting director Richard Hughes and CEO of Football Michael Edwards to prepare the Liverpool squad for the start of the new Premier League season.

Even though the transfer window doesn't officially open until June 14, Liverpool are already being credited with an interest in potential new signings. The latest rumours concern the Reds possibly signing a new defender and a new midfielder.

According to Caught Offside, Liverpool have stepped up their interest in signing Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida. The Reds have been linked with a move for the right-back in recent days, with Geertruida having worked alongside Slot during his time at the Eredivisie club in the last three seasons.

The report states that Liverpool will face competition from Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of Geertruida. It has been claimed, though, that the Reds could have the advantage over Spurs in the race thanks to the player enjoying success at Feyenoord alongside Slot.

Elsewhere, Liverpool continue to be linked with a move for Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners. The Reds have been credited with an interest in signing the Netherlands international for several months, with Juventus and Manchester United also supposedly in the running.

According to Italian news outlet Calciomercato, Liverpool will have to battle Man United to sign Koopmeiners, but Atalanta are "stalling" on a decision over the future of the midfielder. It has been claimed, though, that an offer of between €60 million (£51 million) and €70 million (£60 million) is expected to be made from the Old Trafford club.

However, Atalanta are reportedly determined to keep Koopmeiners at the club. It's been stated that even if an offer worth €70 million (£60 million) was made it may not be enough to convince the Serie A club to part ways with the midfielder.
