Liverpool are busy gearing up for their next match in the Premier League this weekend. The Reds began the new campaign with a 2-0 win over Ipswich Town last Saturday in what was Arne Slot's first competitive fixture as the club's new head coach,

Sunday will see Liverpool return to Anfield to face Brentford in the first home Premier League match of the season. In the background, though, talk of potential transfer business continues to dominate the headlines.

Liverpool are yet to make any new signings since the summer transfer window opened back in June. Since then, the Reds have been credited with an interest in a host of possible new additions before the transfer window closes on August 30.

The ECHO takes a look at some of the latest Liverpool headlines that have been in the news over the last 24 hours.

Mac Allister makes Slot claim

Alexis Mac Allister has spoken about the tactical differences between Slot and former manager Jurgen Klopp.

Mac Allister helped the Reds claim victory over Ipswich Town in the Premier League opener at the weekend. The midfielder was given an extended break during pre-season after starring for Argentina at the Copa America, and has explained how Slot has made changes to the way Liverpool play compared to last season.

"I think this manager asks more to stay in the position, and that's maybe like a different structure," Mac Allister told Viaplay, via Liverpoolfc.com.

"But the principles are the same. We know that defensively we have to run, we have to give our 100 per cent, the last two steps are so important and that can make the difference.

"There is a couple of changes, not much, but I think Arne can help us to be a better team."

Defender completes loan exit

Liverpool defender Rhys Williams has left the club to complete a loan move to Morecambe.

The centre-back has joined the League Two club on a temporary deal that runs until January. Williams had loan spells with Aberdeen and Port Vale last season where he made just one appearance which came for the Scottish Premiership club.

Williams was not part of the Liverpool squad that travelled to the United States for the pre-season tour. The 23-year-old will now look to regain his form during his loan spell at Morecambe.
