Liverpool Football Club has approached German Jurgen Klopp and Italian Carlo Ancelotti to replace Brendan Rodgers as manager, Sky News reports, after the Northern Irishman was sacked on Sunday following a draw with city rivals Everton.

The BBC reports that the Klopp is the club's first choice, followed by Ancellotti.

Rodgers, 42, was sacked by Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group after more than three years in charge following a disappointing start to the season that sees the team sitting tenth in the Premier League table.

Klopp, 48, won two Bundesliga titles as manager of Borussia Dortmund in 2011 and 2012. He announced he was stepping down at the end of last season and has said he would like to work in the Premier League.

Real Madrid let Ancelotti, 56, go over the summer. The former Chelsea manager has won the Premier League once, and the Champions League three times—twice with Milan and once with Real Madrid.
