Juventus' pursuit of Liverpool-linked midfielder Teun Koopmeiners could reportedly face a delay.

The Dutch midfielder has faced speculation over his future at Atalanta following a successful season with the Europa League winners. Koopmeiners was one of the key members of his side's famous win in Europe, as Ademola Lookman's hat-trick ended their 60-year wait for silverware, as well as Bayer Leverkusen's impervious, unbeaten run.

Reports have emerged from Italy this week that Liverpool are among the clubs looking to bring the 26-year-old to Anfield, as new Reds head coach Arne Slot worked with the Holland international during their time at AZ Alkmaar.

Juventus, however, are also reportedly in the hunt for the Atalanta man, with speculation suggesting that prospective manager Thiago Motta is said to have made him one of their main targets.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, there could be a delay in the Turin club's pursuit of the European Cup winner. The reporter has claimed that Juventus are working on a deal for Koopmeiners to make the cross-Serie A switch, but they want to offload players before a move is made.

In his daily briefing column, Romano suggested that no proposal has been made to Gian Piero Gaspinri's side yet, and Matías Soulé, who spent time on loan at Frosinone last season, is among the candidates to leave this summer.

Koopmeiners has already revealed that his future could lie away from the Gewiss Stadium, admitting in March that he has expressed his intention to leave Bergamo this summer.

"I have indicated to Atalanta that I want to make a move next summer," he said. "But there must be something very nice to exchange that for Atalanta.

"My girlfriend and I are having a great time in Italy, but I can put up with the rain for some clubs in England. I hope there will be great options that I can think about. And then I hope that Atalanta receives a nice amount for me, because I had a wonderful time there.”

After Atalanta's Europa League triumph, he was in no mood to discuss his future. He said: "I’m only happy to enjoy this title with the fans, I’m focused on celebrating. Next season? I don’t know. We will see."
