Liverpool could swoop for player Jurgen Klopp spoke to as 'next' Moises Caicedo 'eyed'
Liverpool are continually credited with an interest in midfielders this month after missing out on Martin Zubimendi. That is despite the ECHO understanding they will not pursue an alternative in the transfer market after missing their priority target in the defensive midfield position.
The signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili should a deal be agreed with Valencia, and there have also been links to Joan Garcia, who has a €30million (£25.57m) release clause.
However, regarding outfield players, Liverpool are the subject of relentless rumours to those who occupy the middle of the pitch. After moving late 12 months ago to add Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch, two more midfielders are now linked.
Adrien Rabiot is one of those, with the French sports newspaper L'Equipe claiming the Reds are interested in the former Juventus player. They state the situation is something Liverpool are monitoring, with Rabiot a free agent after leaving the Italian club this summer.
Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are, too, credited with an interest in the France international. However, the ECHO understands that the Reds have no interest whatsoever in Rabiot and that there never have been.
There have previously been claims from ESPN that Jurgen Klopp talked to him over the phone in the summer of 2018 when the midfielder was a Paris Saint-Germain player. Meanwhile, Liverpool are also said to be scouting the Sweden under-21 international Daniel Svensson.
FootballTransfers claims the club are impressed by the Nordsjaelland player, who the data analytics firm SciSports compares favourably to Eduardo Camavinga and Moises Caicedo. The Reds have been keen on both players before. They made a £111million bid for the latter last summer and reputedly tried to sign the former from Rennes before his move to Real Madrid.
