Bayern fend off Musiala interest
Herbert Haine believes Jamal Musiala could be at Bayern Munich 'for the next 20 years'. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has been briefly linked with a move to Liverpool for some time as he continue to impress in the Bundesliga.
"Many say that he will one day be the best player in the world," said the Bayern president, as quoted by Liverpool.com. "In that regard, we will do everything we can to secure him with FC Bayern long-term.
"In my opinion, he could easily become the next Thomas Muller and play here for the next 20 years. I'm very optimistic that we'll see him at Bayern for a long time to come."
Mbappe agreement revealed
Liverpool tried to sign Kylian Mbappe in 2022 in a deal worth around £170m, according to French newspaper L'Equipe. Jurgen Klopp was just a few months into a new long-term contract signed in April of that year and the former Paris Saint-Germain forward, a long-term transfer target, was reportedly eyeing a deal worth more than double the £75m club-record fee paid for Virgil van Dijk in January 2018.
The Reds had always insisted the financial packages needed to bring in a player of Mbappe's calibre made the blockbuster deal a fanciful notion. But, a new report from L'Equipe has suggested Liverpool had struck an agreement with the France international and had a proposal under consideration by PSG alongside Real Madrid, who he later joined on a free transfer earlier this year.
The sensational reports claims the Reds had a €200m (£168m) offer in with the Parisians before being asked to double the fee by then sporting director Antero Henrique. A personal agreement had been reached with Mbappe, despite repeated dismissals of such links over the years by then boss Klopp.
Liverpool eye Bundesliga ace
Liverpool are among several Premier League clubs interested in signing Jonathan Tah, according to German outlet Sport Bild. The 28-year-old defender was heavily linked with an exit from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.
The report states that the Reds are joined by Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in considering a move for Tah, who sees his contract expire at the end of the season. Speaking to reporters last month, as quoted by the Metro, Xabi Alonso said: "Of course, in the first few weeks, there was a situation we didn’t want, but it can happen in football.
"That’s why I decided not to let him start against Stuttgart. But this week, he trained well again, fully focused, his mind was here. At the moment, there is no other news, so he remains in my plan, as an important player and leader."
