Liverpool are set to return to action after the international break this weekend. The Reds went into the two-week hiatus on the back of a 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Arne Slot's team won their opening three matches of the Premier League season to take maximum points alongside Manchester City. Now Liverpool are preparing to take on Nottingham Forest at Anfield in their first match after the international break.

Even though the summer transfer window has closed, Liverpool are continuing to be linked with several potential new signings. The next opportunity for the Reds to sign new players will be in January, unless they are able to agree deals for any free agents that are available.

The ECHO has taken a look at some of the latest Liverpool news and transfer gossip that have generated headlines over the last 24 hours.

Liverpool are being linked with a move for Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala. According to Caught Offside, the Reds are "on alert" over Musiala's future as contract talks with the Bundesliga club remain unresolved.

Musiala is out of contract in 2026 and is yet to sign an extension with Bayer. As a result, the report claims that Liverpool's interest in a potential deal has increased but will face competition from Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

Elsewhere, Liverpool are reportedly one of several clubs showing an interest in signing Sunderland starlet Chris Rigg. According to Give Me Sport, the Reds have sent scouts to watch the talented midfielder in action.

However, it seems that Liverpool are not alone in expressing an interest in signing Rigg. Manchester City and Chelsea are also reported to have sent scouts to watch Rigg, and all three clubs are thought to have been impressed with what they have seen.

Rigg is widely regarded as one of the most talented youth prospects in the Championship. The 17-year-old has also been tipped to follow in the footsteps of Jude Bellingham, who left Birmingham City to join Borussia Dortmund before going on to sign for Real Madrid.
