Liverpool MP Ian Byrne has Labour Party suspension lifted
Liverpool MP Ian Byrne has had the Labour Party whip restored after being suspended last year following a vote over the two-child benefit cap.
Mr Byrne, who represents the Liverpool West Derby seat, was one of seven Labour MPs to have the whip removed after voting for an opposition amendment in the House of Commons last July. The motion was brought by the Scottish National Party and concerned scrapping the two child benefit limit.
The seven MPs voted for the amendment, which sought to remove the limit that currently means that most families only receive benefits for their first two children.

Six months on from the decision to suspend them, Labour has restored the whip to four of the group including Mr Byrne, Richard Burgon, Imran Hussain and Rebecca Long-Bailey. But former shadow chancellor John McDonell and MPs Zarah Sultana and Aspana Begum will remain suspended by the party, reports The Mirror.
