Liverpool player ratings as Mohamed Salah and two more poor in shock Nottingham Forest loss
Liverpool slumped to their first defeat of the Arne Slot era with a dreary setback against Nottingham Forest. Visiting substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi scored the only goal with 18 minutes to end the 100% start to the head coach's reign.
The Reds struggled to get going and delivered a poor second-half showing in which a spate of substitutions made little difference to the overall pattern of the game.
And the ECHO was at Anfield to rate Liverpool's players after Forest earned their first win at the stadium in more than 55 years.

Alisson Becker 6
Spectator first half until popping up at left-back to send Robertson away down the flank. No chance with Forest goal and saved from Elanga late on.
Trent Alexander-Arnold 6
Good cross fashioned Mac Allister header first half but kept busy at times defensively. Moved into midfield on the hour but failed to overly contribute. Booked.
Ibrahima Konate 6
Defended strongly when required, not least when bumping Gibbs-White out of the way. Subbed.
Virgil van Dijk 6
Most of Forest’s attacks were kept away from the skipper, whose best work was when heading away set-pieces. Nodded corner over late on.
Andy Robertson 6
Among those to have been on the receiving end of the big lump Yates. Forest looked to threaten down his flank but moments going forward. Booked and subbed.
Ryan Gravenberch 7
Stepped in regularly when required during opening quarter and important in pressing Forest back towards break. One of few to reasonably maintain level during poor second half. Booked.
Alexis Mac Allister 6
Clobbered three times by the clodhopping Yates but fine ball created chance for Jota and saw header denied by Sels. Subbed.
Mohamed Salah 5
Touch wasn’t quite there for the most part during frustrating showing. Forced Sels into one save second half but began to annoy fans with ambitious shots.
Dominik Szoboszlai 5
Another who struggled to find his rhythm and too many wrong decisions. Minor improvement after break but not enough. Booked.
Luis Diaz 6
Hit the inside of the post after good work to keep ball in play and edged battle with Aina before break. Tired somewhat after interval. Subbed.
Diogo Jota 5
One difficult chance aside, didn’t see much by means of service and forced to go looking for the ball. Began running down dead ends. Subbed.
Conor Bradley (for Mac Allister 61) 5
Defended well from Hudson-Odoi shortly after coming on but allowed same player to come inside to score winner.
Cody Gakpo (for Diaz 61) 4
Struggled to get into game and too often drifted into central positions.
Darwin Nunez (for Jota 61) 4
Looked incredibly rusty and let down by touch and decision-making.
Kostas Tsimikas (for Robertson 75) 5
Another unable to change the pattern of the game.
Curtis Jones (for Konate 75) 5
First minutes of the season for the midfielder.
