All Liverpool restaurants and cafes with a zero-star hygiene rating
Local businesses and restaurants are regularly inspected by Liverpool City Council to ensure hygiene provisions maintain a high standard. While the majority of the city's restaurants score perfect marks year after year, there are some that fall below expectation.
Ratings are given by Environmental Health Officers following an inspection of a food business, and range from zero to five stars, with zero indicating urgent improvement is required, one-star meaning major improvement is necessary, two-stars indicating some improvement is necessary, three meaning hygiene standards are generally satisfactory while four means hygiene standards are good and five means standards are very good.
Ratings are based on how hygienically the food is handled, the condition of the premises and how food safety is managed. Premises with a poor hygiene rating of zero to one are subject to more frequent inspections and will have enforcement action taken against them to secure the necessary improvements.
We've compiled a full list of 26 Liverpool businesses, including takeaways, cafes, restaurants and sandwich shops, which have received a dismal zero-star rating.
