Liverpool 'scout' £67m midfielder as Bayern Munich transfer 'plan' emerges
Liverpool are being linked with two potential new midfielders according to the latest rumours doing the rounds. The Reds had a quiet summer transfer window with Federico Chiesa the only new addition to the squad for this season.
Giorgi Mamardashvili was also signed from Valencia on a permanent deal worth £29million. The Georgia international is spending the remainder of the campaign on loan with the La Liga club where he will officially move to Anfield for the start of next season.
It remains to be seen what business, if any, Liverpool will have planned for when the transfer window reopens in January. That is not stopping the speculation from swirling about the potential new signings that head coach Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes will want to make in the New Year.

Liverpool appear to have been handed a blow in their reported pursuit of Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich. The Reds have been credited with an interest in signing the Germany international in the past, most recently during the summer transfer window.
According to HITC, Bayern are planning to open talks with Kimmich over a new contract in order to fend off interest from Liverpool. The report claims that Manchester City and Barcelona are also interested in signing the versatile midfielder.
Kimmich's current deal with Bayern is set to expire at the end of the season, meaning he could negotiate a pre-contract agreement with Liverpool in January should both parties be interested in a deal. However, the report states that Kimmich is leaning towards signing a new contract with Bayern and is enjoying working with new manager Vincent Kompany.
Elsewhere, Liverpool have been credited with an interest in signing Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson. According to Caught Offside, the Reds recently sent scouts to watch Larsson in action for the Bundesliga club as they search for a new No.6.
The report claims that Liverpool will face competition from Arsenal, Man City, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund for the 20-year-old midfielder. It has been stated that Frankfurt could demand up to €80 million (£67 million) for Larsson's signature, with the midfielder under contract until 2028.
