Liverpool sent double transfer message as 'anything can happen' claim made
Valencia manager Ruben Baraja says Giorgi Mamardashvili remains focused despite interest from Liverpool. The Georgian has been the subject of transfer talk in recent weeks as the Reds monitor his situation at the Mestalla.
It has been suggested that the 23-year-old is in line to become the long-term successor to current number one Alisson Becker. Reports suggest that Liverpool could sign the shot-stopper but send him out on loan in order to continue his development with Alisson, Caoimhin Kelleher and Vitezslav Jaros currently in the goalkeeping ranks at Anfield.
Valencia kicked off their La Liga campaign against Barcelona on Saturday evening but the build-up has been dominated by the future of Mamardashvili. However, the Valencia boss reaffirmed that his focus is on the La Liga campaign.
"It's very simple. He's our player, and as long as there is no other different situation, I'm not going to evaluate anything," he said. "He's here, he’s ready to participate. We can't talk about situations that haven't happened yet."
Reports surfaced on Saturday suggesting that an agreement has been reached in principle and Bournemouth had been selected as the club to send the £35million goalkeeper to on loan after a deal was supposedly agreed.
Elsewhere, Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio continues to be a name linked with a move to Liverpool. Head coach Ruben Amorim hasn't done much to pour cold water on the speculation surrounding the centre-back.
Following murmurs over a Liverpool move, Amorim said "everything is possible" regarding the defender. He confessed: "A lot of news has already come out. I don’t know if there have been negotiations.
"Inacio will play tomorrow. He’s ready, whatever happens in the market. We already have some experience; we know that our players are very attractive for the market. Until it closes, everything is possible. No more or less worried about waiting for the market to close."
