Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has issued an update on his Reds future.

The Brazilian opened up about several topics during an interview with former Manchester City ‘keeper Joe Hart for BBC Sport. However, one particular answer will bring a smile to Liverpool fans' faces. When asked about his future at Anfield, he responded: "I am committed to this club 100% and that involves being part of the leadership group.”

His future was seemingly in question this summer, as Saudi Arabian sides looked to lure him away from Merseyside. Plus, the acquisition of Georgia and Valencia stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili raised a few eyebrows, with 23 year-old set to join next year.

Meanwhile, Alisson has nothing but positive words about Arne Slot, saying: "We were great before but Arne is bringing to us a new energy and knowledge.”

He added: "He is a really smart manager and he is helping us a lot. You can see from how we are playing now.

"We are committed to the plan and can see it is a good plan. We still have a lot to improve but we are in the right direction. We have a big gap to reach for our best but we are doing well so far."

His most recent admission doubles down on what he said in August: “I want to honour my contract and finish my contract here or make a new one,” said Alisson, whose contract expires with Liverpool in 2026 but the club holds an option to extend for another year.

He insisted both his family and the player himself are happy, for now at least. Eventually, it is expected Mamardashvili will replace Alisson, but at 31 years old, the Brazilian will back himself to win more trophies in the coming years.
