Liverpool 'step up' interest in Khivcha Kvaratskhelia as club change transfer stance
Liverpool now have just one week to complete their transfer business for the summer. August 30 marks deadline day for the Reds and Premier League clubs before the transfer window slams shut.
Arne Slot has already won his first match as Liverpool's head coach with the victory over Ipswich Town last week. Now the Reds will prepare to face Brentford at Anfield this Sunday in their next Premier League fixture as they look to continue their 100 per cent start.
Away from the action on the pitch, Liverpool are continuing to be linked with potential new signings. However, the Reds are yet to complete their first signing of the window and are running out of time for that to change.
The ECHO has taken a look at some of the latest Liverpool transfer rumours that have been doing the rounds over the last 24 hours.
Liverpool are being linked with a move for Napoli forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. According to Football Insider, the Reds are plotting a move to sign the Georgia international before the summer transfer window closes.
The report claims that Napoli value Kvaratskhelia at £70 million, and there appear to be increased rumours that the winger could leave the club this summer. The 23-year-old started in a central role in Napoli's 3-0 defeat to Hellas Verona in their Serie A opener at the weekend.
It has been reported that Liverpool are looking to sign Kvaratskhelia, but are aware they will face a difficult task in prising him out of Naples. The forward has three years remaining on his contract with the Italian club and impressed with Georgia at Euro 2024 to help his country reach the round of 16 stage.
Elsewhere, Liverpool have been handed a blow in their reported pursuit of signing Joshua Kimmich. The Reds have been linked with the Bayern Munich midfielder this summer as they continue to be tipped to sign a No.6 before the window closes.
However, according to Sport Bild writer Christian Falk, Bayern are now planning to continue with Kimmich as their starting defensive midfielder. Falk told Caught Offside that Kimmich has been given a "clean slate" for the season under new manager Vincent Kompany.
