After rediscovering their winning ways following defeat to Nottingham Forest last month, Liverpool have the chance to make it five wins on the bounce when they face Bologna in the Champions League.

Despite being far from their best, Liverpool managed to leave Molineux with three points on the weekend, with Ibrahima Konate and Mohamed Salah getting on the scoresheet in a 2-1 win. After Manchester City's draw with Newcastle, the victory took the Reds to the top of the Premier League table, with some huge fixtures coming up over the next few weeks.

But for now, all attention turns to tonight's Champions League clash, where Arne Slot will manage his first European game under the Anfield lights as Liverpool boss. The Reds got off to a strong start in their Champions League campaign, beating AC Milan 3-1 at the San Siro last time out.

Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa have been absent from Liverpool training this week with the latter set to miss tonight's clash, while Darwin Nunez will return to the squad after missing out with illness on the weekend.

So, can Liverpool make it two wins from two in the Champions League? Let's take a look.

We simulated Liverpool vs Bologna to get a score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Liverpool could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Kelleher, Bradley, Konate, Quansah, Tsimikas; Gravenberch, Endo, Jones; Chiesa, Gakpo, Nunez.

We predict that Bologna could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Skorupski; Posch, Beukema, Lucumi, Lykogiannis; Aebischer, Freuler, Urbanski; Orsolini, Castro, Ndoye.

Liverpool were awarded a penalty four minutes in when Salah was tripped inside the box, and the Egyptian fired home from the spot to hand the Reds an early lead at Anfield. Momentum was with Slot's side, and a fantastic goal made it 2-0 before the 20-minute mark.

Just like he has all season long, Luis Diaz was causing problems down the left, and some tidy footwork from the Colombian saw him cut inside and evade two challenges as he surged towards goal. A drop of the shoulder opened up a gap for Diaz to shoot, and shoot he did, with the winger curling a wonderful strike into the top corner to double the Reds' lead.

Just before the break, Bologna pulled a goal back against the run of play when Riccardo Orsolini silenced Anfield with a free-kick from 25 yards out. Liverpool started the second half full of nerves, and six minutes after the restart, the Italian side had managed to draw level, with Santiago Castro tapping in at the back post to finish off a rapid counterattack.

When the visitors made it 2-2, it was just their third shot of the game compared to Liverpool's 14, showing just how dominant Slot's side had been. Heads were down, but another moment of magic from Diaz saw the Colombian reclaim the Reds' lead.

Bologna couldn't get near Diaz, with the winger once again cutting in from the left and into a dangerous position. The winger played a fantastic one-two with Nunez to break through one-on-one with the 'keeper, and Diaz slotted home to make it 3-2.

With 15 minutes remaining, Nunez grabbed a goal of his own when his glancing header from a corner flew past the 'keeper at the near post, and the visitors were unable to muster up a comeback a second time round as Liverpool held out for a 4-2 victory.
