Head to head

The two sides have met 179 times before, with Liverpool winning 77 of those, Chelsea 62, and the teams sharing 40 draws.

Chelsea took four points off Liverpool last season with a 1-0 home win and 1-1 draw at Anfield, while the last time the teams met in a cup competition - 2015 - Chelsea progressed to the League Cup final with a 1-0 semi-final aggregate win.

Team news

Both Klopp and Sarri are set to ring the changes for the cup clash, with each manager needing to give valuable minutes to squad players.

Pedro and Antonio Rudiger will almost certainly be rested as they struggle with injuries, while the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Andres Christensen, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ethan Ampadu and Alvaro Morata should start.

Similarly for Liverpool, Klopp will likely opt for the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Naby Keita and Fabinho.
